Seminar on the “Status of Elderly in Maharashtra”. (January 16, 2014 at TISS,
Mumbai)
The Seminar on “Status of
Elderly in Kerala” was jointly organised by PRC, ISEC, UNFPA, New Delhi,
Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, Tata Institute of Social Sciences,
Mumbai on January 16, 2014 at TISS, Mumbai. The main objective of the
Conference was to disseminate the survey findings from the study “Building
Knowledge Base on Ageing in India” for Maharashtra. The survey covered
various dimensions on elderly issues.
The Seminar on “Status of
Elderly in Kerala” was jointly organised by PRC, ISEC, UNFPA, New Delhi,
Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, Tata Institute of Social Sciences,
Mumbai and PRC Kerala on December 30, 2013 at The Residency Towers,
Trivandrum. The main objective of the Conference was to disseminate the
survey findings from the study “Building Knowledge Base on Ageing in India”
for Kerala. The survey covered various dimensions on elderly issues.
The Seminar on “Status of
Elderly in Punjab” was jointly organised by PRC, ISEC, UNFPA, New Delhi,
Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, Tata Institute of Social Sciences,
Mumbai and Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development,
Chandigarh on December 23, 2013 at CRRID, Chandigarh. The main objective of
the Conference was to disseminate the survey findings from the study
“Building Knowledge Base on Ageing in India” for Punjab. The survey covered
various dimensions on elderly issues.

Workshop on “Role of the Media in Creating Visibility about Ageing Issues”
held at
Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, December 20, 2013.
An one-day media workshop on
“Role of the Media in Creating Visibility about Ageing Issues” was jointly
organized by PRC, ISEC, UNFPA, New Delhi, Institute of Economic Growth,
Delhi, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai at TISS, Mumbai on December
20, 2013. The main objective of the conference was to sensitize media on the
issues regarding elderly and included leading journalists from various
newspapers and other media channel.
The National Conference on
“Inclusive Growth: Opportunities for the Elderly” was jointly organised by
PRC, ISEC, UNFPA, New Delhi, Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, Tata
Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and Planning Commission, Government of
India, New Delhi during November 19-20, 2012 at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi. The
main objective of the Conference was to disseminate the survey findings from
the study “Building Knowledge Base on Ageing in India”. The survey was
conducted in 7 states in India, viz., Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra,
Odisha, West Bengal, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The survey covered various
dimensions on elderly issues.
A
National Consultation was organised in collaboration with TISS, Mumbai
and with various stakeholders like senior citizens’ organizations, NGOs,
Government Departments, members of national and state human rights
commissions, academicians in the field of social science, social work,
etc.
This
workshop brings together experts on elderly from an inter-disciplinary
perspective. Altogether nine papers including seven studies initiated as
part of the first phase of the study was presented in the workshop.
