Centre for Decentralisation and Development (CDD) was set up in 2002 with the assistance from the Ford Foundation to undertake multi-disciplinary research on decentralisation and development. The research covers fiscal, political and administrative aspects of decentralisation, and also local organisations such as PRIs, NGOs and CBOs. The main objective of the Centre is to provide research inputs to functionaries of decentralised government, government officials, NGOs and donors for policy formulation, implementation and policy renewal.

The goal of the Centre is to establish itself as a centre of excellence in `Decentralisation and Development’ through research, advocacy and capacity building. The mission of the Centre is to support and further the decentralisation efforts of the government, people, donors and civil society institutions by undertaking policy oriented research, dissemination and capacity building initiatives.
